The Mexican and Brazilian Beetle Register frequently gets enquiries as to whether Haynes publishes a manual specifically for the Mexican Beetle in particular the later fuel injected models.
The simple answer from Emma Isaacs at Haynes Publishing is that there isn’t a manual specifically for the Mexican Beetle but their Technical Advisors suggest that book number 96008, which is actually an American Publication, would be a very good guide for The Mexican Beetle. Being American, the manual is based on a left hand drive vehicle, there will of course be some subtle interior and exterior differences and the wiring and fuel emission systems will obviously be very different. VW de Mexico have very kindly supplied a copy of a wiring diagram for the 1993> Mexican 1600i Beetle. So, it would seem these two items should pretty much cover all of the servicing and maintenance needs of the later Mexican Beetles.
If you own one of the 1200cc Mexican Beetles >1986, you will find that your car is almost identical to the last Beetles to be officially imported into Britain in 1978, with a only a few very subtle differences. We would suggest that a copy of the Haynes manual for 1200cc Beetles from 1954-1977 should pretty much cover all of your servicing and maintenance needs.
